Biography:

  • David Brown is currently Director of Brown Consulting Group International, LLC, a small firm focused on providing assistance and technical support in the evaluation and monitoring of population health outcomes, improving the health and well-being of communities through data driven, evidence-based approaches to problem solving.
  • Previously, David spent 6 years as epidemiologist-in-residence at the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), advising on data for immunization systems management. Prior to joining UNICEF, David's research focused on gaining a better understanding of established and novel risk factors for chronic, non-communicable diseases.
  • This included exploring the effects of childhood trauma on long-term health consequences and risk factors for non-communicable diseases (particularly cardiovascular disease) both within the United States and globally as an epidemiologist at the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
  • With more than 15 years of experience and over 125 peer-reviewed scientific publications, advocacy documents and book chapters on an array of public health issues (e.g., immunization, child malnutrition, heart disease, stroke, diabetes, tobacco smoking, physical inactivity), he maintains a passionate commitment to a mission of improving population health both in his home country of the United States and abroad.
