The importance and need for this special issue:

Lipids are integral part of cells membranes and are known to regulate biological functions. Purified lipids are known to assemble into self-organized structures, that have been explored as drug delivery systems since decades. The molecular interactions between the lipids are governed by their physical and chemical properties including their hydrophilic, hydrophobic and amphipathic behavior. Tools are available to further tune these lipid assemblies that lead to alterations of their hydrodynamic size, surface properties, drug loading efficiency, stability, drug release properties etc. The purpose of this special issue bring together various lipid-based drug delivery systems currently in clinical uses and/or being developed for delivery of anticancer drugs. These include, liposomes, micelles, emulsions and lipid-based polymers.

Submission Instructions: All submissions will undergo peer review and accepted articles will be published in the International Journal of Lipids.
